The Generator Monitor GM-1stores and dials up to 4 telephone numbers and/or pager numbers. Each number may contain up to 28 digits, including a maximum of 10 “pause” segments (a pause is 2 seconds long and counts as a digit) and an optional “pound” tone for pager dialing.

Once a connection is made, the dialer will deliver a recorded voice message of up to 16 seconds or a numeric code for pager messaging. The generator monitor will repeat the voice message two times per call, to ensure that a full message is delivered. If the phone number is busy or not answered within 8 rings the auto dialer will automatically dial the next programmed number.

If any numbers are busy or un-answered, the dialer will continue calling (up to 10 times per programmed number) in an attempt to deliver the voice message or until the alarm condition is terminated.

Each Generator Monitor is pre-programmed with a 15 minute time delay. This means the monitor will only dial out if the building is without electricity for a 15 minute period. If however the electricity is restored during that 15 minute period, the monitor will re-set to the operate mode and no calls will be made.

1- Does it matter what kind of generator system I have?

No it does not matter. Our monitor can be used with Kohler generators, Generac Guardian generators, Onan generators and virtually all automatic start generator systems. The key to the Sudden Impulse GM-1 is that it is sensing electrical voltage thru an outlet in the building that your generator supplies power to during an outage. The beauty of the GM-1 is that it is universal and will monitor all brands.

2- Do I need to hire someone to install it?

You do not need to have it installed by a professional during or after your emergency generator installation. It is quite simple for the do it yourselfer, however it might be convenient to have your generator dealer install the monitor while they are doing your new installation just so you don’t have to be bothered with it.

3- Are there Monthly fees?

Absolutely Not! You purchase the monitor, install it and forget it. Sudden Impulse believes in providing products that serve a purpose and make your life more comfortable. Our GM-1 will do just that with out extracting monies on a monthly basis!

4- Your system has a back-up re-chargeable battery. Do I have to charge it or maintain that?

The monitor does have a re-chargeable battery that requires you to do nothing. It receives its charge thru the GM-1. While outside power is present at the monitor, the battery pack will stay charged. In the event of a power failure the battery pack will immediately activate and keep the monitor functioning for about 12 hours.

5- Does the unit have a warranty

Yes. The device is warranteed for manufactures defects for a period of 1 year. 

6- Do I need a dedicated phone line?

No you do not. Each monitor is shipped with a duplex phone jack splitter. You can plug it in where ever you have a telephone outlet and it will share the same existing line.

7- Do you guarantee that this will prevent any thing happening to my structure due to a power outage?

Our product does what it is designed to do, however we can not make that guarantee due to the fact that we have no control over the many variables that may result, due to acts of God, improper installation or mis-use otherwise.
